Good Samaritan - Rachelle Rosano

Being a good Samaritan is one of the most admirable traits that an individual could possess. Not only does it reflect a good personality and character, but good Samaritans provide instinctive acts that can ultimately benefit humanity because that is what they believe is the right thing to do. Now, although this is a trait that comes with much respect and legitimacy, I don't believe good acts should be mandated by law. I believe it is something that should naturally come within a person, and being forced to do something that someone would not normally do might not result in any more progress. This can be compared to a group project, for example. If another student is forced into a group who already had a plan set in stone, and the student is not motivated into participating with as much enthusiasm as the others, it could just worsen the conditions of that project. This can be applicable to someone who is not familiar with being a helping hand, who can make matters worse rather than the intent of helping the people around them. Even though I don't agree with the fact that good deeds should be implemented in a legal form, I do think that they should be promoted more than they are now, except in a different way. Enforcing people to be good Samaritans would give society a reboot into realizing what doing good deeds can do to benefit the world around us, but it should be instinctive for people to take on that responsibility. People should naturally realize that being a good Samaritan would overall make themselves, and the people around them, feel better within the general public.
