Contraversal School policy

One school policy at olympian highschool is to not ever chew gum on campus. I understand that there is gum issues that regard to keeping the campus clean, like the sticky gooey pieces under the school desks, or the black spots they make on the concrete of school. Teachers also complain that it is a distraction in class, but I think that the school should just modify the rule and allow gum to be chewed on campus, just not in class. I think if the teachers catch students chewing away in class, that they should give them detention or some kind of consequence. That way the student will learn his or her lesson and wont do it again. Even the students who see what would happen would be scared to chew gum in class. Again i understand that gum could cause sanitary issues on campus, but i think if the school let the students chew gum only on campus maybe they'll dispose their gum properly. Then that way, everyone on campus is happy.
