Controversial School Policy - Arvin Dagoc

Gum chewing is a controversial policy that many schools do not allow students to do. In Olympian high, students can not chew gum on campus. However, sometimes I catch some teachers chewing gum in class and I do not think that is fair. I believe that Olympian should allow gum chewing because it actually has many benefits that could help students out in school. ChewingGumFacts.com states that gum chewing could"improve memory, stress reduction, increase focus, alertness and concentration, manage weight, and improve oral health." Gum could help students at their academics because it improves memory and increases focus. Gum could also help students at P.E. because it manages weight. Gum should be allowed because people in school chew gum anyways. On a final thought, many believe that allowing gum will dirty desks underneath more. However, if gum is allowed, students will not have to worry about getting caught and will not secretly put gum under their desks.
