This is a headgear. It is used to prevent ear damage (cauliflower ear) In wrestling ,due to the constant grinding of the ears against opponents. It wasn't always used or required, in fact, on the international circuit they are not used at all. The idea became popular when more and more wrestlers began getting cauliflower ear. But to me and countless other highschool wrestlers , the headgear is something else , once I snap it on Im completely focused completely zoned in. when you put a headgear on you know the intensity of combat just minutes or seconds away and you feel like a different person willing to do whatever it takes to win.
