Dear Congressman Cochran,

I am writing this letter to you, to explain my thoughts on California creating a Good Samaritan Law. My thoughts are that passing this law would require all to help out; but citizen's are suppose to help by their own free will not because of a law. My philosophy is no; I do not agree with the creation of this law.

A Good Samaritan is a person who voluntarily offers aid or sympathy in a time of need. If creation of a law took place their would be no more samaritans because no one would be voluntarily helping others. People shouldn't be told to do a simple yet helpful task such as helping a senior citizen cross the street, assisting with taking grocceries to someones car, and stopping to help someone on the side of the road. If forced to do these things then no good would come about nor would a feeling of accomplishment or satisfaction be attained. This is why I feel we should leave it as is and let those who are willing to help without a law continue to help, and those who don't act at all continue to do nothing. Good comes to those who give to others and don't expect anything in return; and this is why I say let those who help continue to recieve mental, physical, and emotional greatness without the help of a law.

I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to read my proposal on passing a Good Samaritan Law. I really hope you will take into concideration what has been said and way out the pro's and con's of this idea.

Sincerely,

Eugene Dorsey
