On September 8, 2011, San Diego and Arizona experienced an unpredicted blackout. When I found out, I was at band practice. We were practicing outside on the field and it was still bright outside, so none of us were really affected until we got home. It was really hot due to the weather and not having the AC on. Because there was no electricity, I was unable to do my homework when it got completely dark outside. Experiencing the blackout has made many people realize how much society today depends on electricity for even the simplest things. Although the blackout put a stop to everyone's plans, I think this ended up being a positive experience for many families and neighbors who finally had the chance to bond or meet.
