During the blackout last thursday I didn't really do anything. When the power first went off, I was just doing homework in my room and I noticed that it was getting pretty hot and I noticed that my fan had turned off. At first, I thought that it was just my house that lost power, but once I went on Facebook I found out that there was a power outage throughout the whole county. Later in the day, I found out the power was also out near the border of Arizona and Mexico. My parents got the whole family together and we all stayed in the family room for the rest of the night with candles lit, and as shown in the picture, at some point I just felt as if I had to do my homework. After a while, we all did our own thing, my mom and little brother and sister played on our ipod, my big sister was just laying down staring at the ceiling, my dad was sitting while listening to the radio, while I just laying down just waiting for my cable box to click on. In my opinion, living in an era of high technology distracted us from getting together with other people. Not just in the family, but the whole neighborhood could have come together and do something as a community, but now a days, people spend all their time on Facebook, watching TV, and talking on the phone. But we need to realize we are all part of a community that should work together.
