Last week's blackout in my opinion was a one of a kind experience because everyone came together instead of watching television or anything people use that requires electricity. In my neighborhood, mostly everyone came outside while there was still daylight and interacted with each other. As soon as night hit, everyone went indoors and lit their candles waiting for the lights to come back on. As for me, as soon as night hit, i grabbed my small flashlight and went outdoors with my friends because i knew i would not get another chance to see nighttime like this. Society has become overly dependent on electricity and people wont even think about blackouts because they are uncommon but the reality is that accidents occur and people need to be prepared. This event was in a way a learning experience for our society to be prepared in case something like this ever happens again.
