Blackout-Damien Martinez

Last week's blackout put Southern California in the dark, literally. When it happened, I immediately thought the grid went down because to much people were using electricity, the fact that it was a hot day made me think it was just people leaving there AC's on, because something like this had already happened a couple years ago. 2o minutes after it started I went to go walk my dog, because I figured it would be back on by the time I came home, sadly it was not. I got frustrated an hour in, put batteries into my radio and tuned into the first broadcasting station, it was some am channel talking about traffic and the blackout. By the time it got dark, we were using candles and flashlights to see. I went to sleep that night early, and I was not able to see the lights switch back on, but instead I woke up to them on and thanked God, for the school shutting down for the day. The best part was that I did not finish any of my homework, and that 3 day weekend made it all easy.
