Blackout-Jonathan Navarro

Last week, all of San Diego county including parts of Mexico and Arizona experienced a blackout. Many people lost power and communications, stores and workplaces shut down, and highways and streets were jam packed with traffic. When the blackout occurred I was on board the USS Ronald Reagan off the coast of San Diego watching news updates on the situation. Many people in the city were worrying about their food spoiling and loved ones out during the blackout. The power soon came back on late that night and life returned to normal. I think this situation shows us how much we depend on electricity. We don't think about it but we always expect the lights to come on when we get home. We take this luxury for granted, and that's why people were so scared when the power went out.
