Blackout-Nicole Provins

Last thursday, September 8th a blackout occured throughout San Diego, Orange County, Arizona, and Mexico for about 13 hours. During the blackout I litted up some candles and tried to do some homework. After an hour I couldn't concentrate very well in dim lighting. Then I went to the living room and my dad and my older brother sat down and we starting talking about our future. We bonded for like 2 hours sitting on the couch with candles and flashlights, talking about my dad's goals when he was our age. Also what me and my brother talked about what we wanted to do after we graduate highschool. So my day without electricity went well because I bonded more with my dad and my brother. Our dependency on electricity is what we mostly rely on because of internet access, T.V, light, and power for things we use on a daily basis. I feel that electricity isn't the only thing we should depend on because bonding with families, going outside being active, and other things can be as much as fun or even better than going on social networking sites and watching T.V. But in my opinion, I thought this poweroutage wasn't so bad for me because I benifitted my time with my family.
