Cassius- Eugene Dorsey

Caius Cassius is a very clever and manipulative general under Caesar's power. In Act I scene II of Julius Caesar Cassius tries to convince Brutus to join the plot against Caesar by telling Brutus, he would not have it so if he feared Caesar becoming king. Cassius is also very observant and focuses a lot on the main events going on in Rome. He plays a major role for the majority of Act I in The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. Cassius is the character foil of Brutus, a character that is noble to Caesar. Brutus is like Caesar's illegitimate son and best friend; this is a man that is honest, admirable, and patriotic; the complete opposite of Cassius. In act I scene III another person starts to be persuaded by Caius and his manipulative tricks, Casca is the person that falls into the imaginary trap that Cassius has started to set. All in all Cassius despises the fact that Caesar is getting more recognition then him and wants this to stop by any means necessary.
