Julius Caesar is an ambitious general who is one of the most powerful men of all of Rome. He gained his power by his conquests of peoples and also by his intellect, clairyvoyance and hunger for power that enabled him to gain the praise of the Roman people and to make relationships with high officials. Yet, despite his high status, Caesar was as common as anyone else during his time. To explain, Caesar was very superstitious like all Romans of the time, as evident in Act 1 Scene 2 when he asked Antony to touch Calphurnia during his races, so she could become fertile. On the other hand though, Caesar was a very confident man that was not afraid to do what he needed to do to get what he wanted which enabled him to stand out from the commoners, although the fact that he was born of noble birth also helped. Hence, Julius Caesar is one of the main characters of the play Julius Caesar who is a very complex character.Monday, October 24, 2011
