Personal Growth - Regine Hutalla

Over the course of fall break I was able to spend quality time with my family in Los Angeles. I thought spending a few days in Los Angeles would be the usual: having a small get together at grandma’s house, spending the night at my cousins, and then having lunch the next day with the whole family at our usual Chinese restaurant. However, this time we still continued with our usual routine but my two cousins, my aunt, and me were able to have a heart to heart conversation. With that conversation I learned that you are never as alone as you think you are and there are people there who have been through what you have been through and there are people who understand. I felt this brought me even closer to them because I have never seen them that unhappy before and vice versa. I think from that conversation I grew stronger emotionally because now I know bottling your feelings up is unhealthy and that there are always going to be people there who understand and are there for you to talk to.
